About the Role

Board Recruitment Opportunity

Aboriginal Counselling Services Association of Alberta (ACSA) is seeking dedicated Indigenous community members to join our Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to help guide an organization with over 30 years of service to Indigenous families and communities.

What We're Looking For

We seek passionate Indigenous community members with diverse skills and experience to join our Board. Ideal candidates will:

Bring professional expertise in mental health, Indigenous services, finance, law, or organizational leadership
Understand impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma
Commit to quarterly meetings and occasional events
Share our commitment to Indigenous families and communities

Strategic Priorities:

Ensuring programs respond to current family needs
Increasing staff development opportunities
Ensuring organizational sustainability
Fostering collaborative Board-Executive Director relationships

Requirements

Board Responsibilities: 

The ACSA Board meets quarterly (aligned with the changing of seasons) to: 

  • Provide governance oversight and strategic direction 

  • Support organizational goals and sustainability 

  • Join a passionate team with diverse professional backgrounds 

  • Uphold ACSA's vision, mission, and values  

  • Support our Executive Director 

  • Help ensure the sustainability and growth of our programs
